I’m Sarah – a specialist newborn photographer with over two decades of experience behind the camera. My studio in Steeton, West Yorkshire is a calm, cosy space designed for comfort, care and connection – where everything runs at baby’s pace.
For me, this isn’t just business. And it’s more than art. It’s about honouring your most precious moments and turning them into timeless photographs you’ll treasure for a lifetime.

Whether you’re still counting down the weeks or holding your baby in your arms right now, I know how quickly these early days pass – and how important it is to capture them while you can.
I’m Sarah, an award-winning specialist newborn photographer with a cosy studio in Steeton, West Yorkshire – just a short drive from Keighley, Skipton and Ilkley. With over 20 years of experience behind the camera and a gentle, baby-led approach, I’ll guide you through a relaxed, beautiful session that celebrates your growing family and creates timeless images you’ll treasure forever.

HOW IT WORKS
Sarah Walton Photography – Your Newborn Baby Photographer in Yorkshire
1. Secure your session
To book your Signature Newborn Session, simply pay the £80 Session Fee – this secures your spot in my diary and covers your time in the studio, a pre-session phone consultation, use of props and setups and your personalised viewing appointment – it does not include any images or products, which are purchased separately. (Please note this fee is non-refundable.) You can book directly by clicking the ‘BOOK NOW’ button, or if you’d prefer to chat first, just fill in the contact form at the bottom of this page and I’ll be in touch.
2. Let’s chat
Once your Session Fee is paid, we’ll arrange a friendly phone consultation to go over all the details. It’s a great chance to ask any questions and for us to talk through how everything works, so you feel totally prepared.
3. We pencil in your date
We’ll reserve a session date for 1–2 weeks after your due date – this gives us a starting point while keeping things flexible. Babies don’t always stick to the plan, so if your little one arrives earlier or later than expected, we’ll adjust your session date to suit.
4. When baby arrives
Once your baby is here, just drop me a quick message to let us know – I’ll confirm your session date and make sure everything is ready for you.
5. Choose your images later
There’s no need to choose a package yet. Around two weeks after your session, you’ll return to the studio for your Viewing & Ordering Appointment. That’s when you’ll see your beautifully edited gallery and choose the image collection and products you’d love to take home.

The newborn days are beautifully intense – and unbelievably quick.
One minute you’re figuring out feeding and nappies, and the next you’re wondering how your tiny newborn suddenly doesn’t feel so tiny anymore. (Trust me, I’ve been there.)
That’s why it matters to capture this stage while it’s still unfolding – so you’ll always have something real and beautiful to look back on when the blur starts to settle.
And while your baby will of course be the star of the show, I strongly recommend including family (and sibling) images too. There’s something incredibly special about seeing you all together – the way you looked at them in those first few weeks, the pride on older siblings’ faces, the love and connection that shines through without anyone needing to say a word.
Newborn sessions aren’t just about how your baby looked. They’re about remembering what it felt like to become a family – and that’s something truly worth holding onto.

My packages are detailed below. To book your Signature Newborn Session, a non-refundable £80 session fee is required to secure your slot in the diary.
This fee covers your time in the studio, the use of all props and setups and a relaxed viewing and ordering appointment around two weeks later – where you’ll get to see your gallery and choose your package.
There’s no need to decide on a package now – you’ll make your selections after you’ve seen your finished images, choosing from our image collection packages and a beautiful range of products, including wall art to proudly display in your home.

YOUR QUESTIONS
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO BOOK MY NEWBORN SESSION?
Newborn photography sessions are best suited to babies aged up to 3 weeks old, however, I often photograph babies up to 6 weeks of age in a newborn style and I am confident in achieving a lovely gallery of images whatever age baby is at the time of their session. As baby get’s older and further past the age of 3 weeks old, they will start to be more alert and awake, so we usually find older babies will be awake for more of their session and certain poses may not be suitable for them, due to their growth since birth.
You can book a newborn session anytime from your 12 week scan and I’d recommend booking well in advance to ensure I have availability.
We recommend booking your Newborn Session 1 to 2 weeks after your due date for the ideal window. Once you have booked your date, it’s then just a case of letting us know when baby has arrived so we adjust the date if needed. Quite often the date we book works well, but if your baby does arrive particularfly early or you go over your due date, then please get in touch so we can alter the date if needed. I take a limited number of due dates a month to allow me to give your session the time it deserves.
Newborn Sessions usually take place Monday to Friday during the first 2 weeks of baby’s life (whilst parents usually have paternity/maternity leave), but if your circumstances don’t allow for this, please get in touch via the contact form below to discuss the options we can offer you.
hOW LONG IS A NEWBORN SESSION?
Newborn sessions last up to 4 hours in my cosy studio in Steeton, West Yorkshire. This allows plenty of time for your baby to have feeds and changes as required and for me to settle your baby for their images. My studio is warm & relaxing, with comfy chairs, allowing you to relax whilst I do the baby whispering!
During a Newborn session, I pose babies to create my signature style of imagery, which requires a great deal of skill and experience (and patience!). Safety is always my top priority and I have received in depth training on the safe posing and handling of newborn babies by some of the UK’s top newborn photographer’s and trainers.
How should we prepare for the session?
Once your session fee is paid, we’ll arrange a friendly phone consultation to chat through all the details. It’s a great opportunity to ask any questions and for me to guide you through how everything works, so you feel completely relaxed and prepared. Can we have family/sibling photos?
Yes, this is included at no extra cost! I usually take family and/or sibling photos at the end of a newborn session. I recommend that siblings are brought to the studio by your partner, a family member or friend for the last 45 minutes of the session, to allow us to focus on creating the best photos of your baby in a quiet and calm environment during the first portion of the session.
If you would like to include your older children in your session and the available appointment times on our online calendar aren’t suitable for you, please get in touch by completing the contact form below, so we can find a suitable appointment for you. We usually schedule your session to start later in the day to allow children to join us after school. We also have limited Saturday availability (which is allocated on a first to book, first served basis) for which there is a £25 surcharge, which is payable upon booking.
when will we see our images?
Your viewing & ordering appointment will be booked with you at the end of your session for around 2 to 3 weeks later. This is when you will view your beautifully edited and enhanced gallery of around 25-30 images, choose your image package/wall art and place your order.

To book a Newborn Session, a non-refundable session fee of £80 is required upon booking to secure your session in our diary. Your session fee covers our time in the studio and does not include digital images, prints or products. You will choose your package and any wall art or products at your viewing and ordering appointment.
Once you have booked your session, we will be in touch by email and text message within 48 hours to arrange your phone consultation.
what if my baby is older than 3 weeks?
If your baby has already been born, please get in touch asap, so we can chat about your session and what is possible. Whilst it is true that to achieve the classic, curled up, dinky newborn images you see on my website it is best for baby to be under 3 weeks of age, it can still be possible to photograph older babies in a newborn style – they just might be a little more awake and alert after this point and need extra time to settle! The poses that can be achieved is often down to each individual baby, so my sessions are very baby-led no matter their age.
I regularly photograph babies in a newborn-style up to 6 weeks of age (although they might not be quite as sleepy and certain poses may not be suitable for older babies), or you can check out our Little Smiler Sessions, which are suitable for babies between 2 and 8 months of age.

Your Newborn photoshoot will take place in my cosy and comfortable studio in Steeton, near Keighley, Skipton, Ilkley & Bingley in West Yorkshire (about 45 minutes from Leeds and Bradford).
