GLOW PHOTOSHOOT GUIDE
HOW TO PREPARE AND WHAT TO EXPECT
So your session can run as smoothly as possible, I have compiled a prep guide to help us get the most out of your session!
How do I prepare for my Glow session?
Please arrive to your appointment with clean, dry hair and with no make up on. Ensuring any areas that you wish to be hair free are smooth and applying moisturiser before your session is recommended. I’d also recommend not applying self-tan beforehand (or at least being very careful to not overdo it around the hand and foot area!) and if we get any sunny days, please try to avoid tan lines.
What should I bring to the session?
Please bring the following items with you to your session;
- A strapless bra (preferably nude colour)
- A nude colour thong
- Black/white underwear (bra and pants) – don’t worry if you don’t have much choice to bring, just bring what you have!
- Any of your own clothing you may want to bring
The items of clothing above help to create beautiful images without the distraction of visible underwear. I have a bathroom within the studio, which can be used as a dressing room. If you don’t have any of these items, don’t worry, we can work around it.
Feel free to also bring some of your own clothing options with you – we may or may not use these depending on what you bring, but the type of clothing that could work well are any of the following; dresses (long & flowing or fitted), blazers, an oversized shirt, hats or a pair of heels. If your style is more dressed down, why not bring along your favourite pair of chunky black boots, a leather/denim jacket or a pair of jeans – these are all good items to use during your session! Accessories such as big necklaces or earrings and hats can look great too – feel free to add a bit of your personality!
Think out of the box when selecting the items you would like to bring – we want bold and plain clothing ideally, but if prints are your thing, that’s fine too! There’s no need to buy anything if you don’t feel you have anything suitable though.
Upon Arrival
Please go straight into Imagine Hair & Beauty salon (below my studio) at your appointment time and either Rebekka (your hairdresser), or Naomi (your make up artist) will meet you there. If I’m in the studio and available (i.e. not with another customer) then I will pop down to say hello, but your hair styling and make up is essentially left to the experts (whom I trust to make you look gorgeous!), so please disuss your ideas or styles with them at your appointment.
Please try to arrive on time to your hair styling/make up appointment as we will be running on a schedule. If you are running late, please call Rebekka at Imagine on 01535 658000 or message me on 07956114916.
How long does a Glow Session last?
Your Glow photoshoot itself will last around up to 2 hours. Your hair & make-up appointments will take place in Imagine Hair & Beauty Salon downstairs and usually take around 60 to 90 minutes altogether, depending on the style you have opted for. You can expect to be with us for around 3 to 4 hours in total.
How will I pose?
Whilst some people may feel confident in front of the camera, other’s (most!) are happy to be guided by me.
I won’t expect you to ‘know’ how to pose! I will help to position your hands in the correct places, rearrange your clothing as appropriate and tell you where to look – unless you’re a natural of course!
The specific types of poses I recommend will depend on me working with you as an individual, to get the best range of images. I aim for a varied gallery and the poses & clothing used will reflect this.
Will I have to take my clothes off?…eeek!
It’s totally up to you! These sessions are all about boosting your confidence and capturing a gorgeous range of images of you, so we’ll go at your pace and I’ll be guided by your comfort level. I have a good eye for knowing ‘what will work’ so all I ask is for you to trust me, even if the pose or clothing may seem a bit ‘out there’, I’m pretty sure you’ll love the results!
Can I bring my extended family or friends to the session?
Only those participating in the session should attend the appointment, as having other’s there causes unnecessary distractions. But if you are attending the session alone and would like a friend or family member to accompany you to help you feel at ease, that’s fine! Please ask them to arrive after your hair & make up appointments.
Sickness Policy
To protect the health of all families, I kindly ask that you do not attend your session if you are unwell.
If you (or anyone attending) has been feeling unwell in the days leading up to your appointment, please get in touch as soon as possible and we will rearrange your session.
For any illness that may be contagious – including sickness or diarrhoea – a minimum 48-hour symptom-free period should be observed before attending.
If anyone in your household develops symptoms of a contagious illness in the week leading up to your session, please contact me to reschedule. If you have tested to rule this out and are feeling well, you are very welcome to attend – I simply ask that you keep me informed.
Rescheduling Your Glow Session
If you need to change your appointment, please let me know as soon as possible.
Your Glow Session fee secures your booking in the diary and covers your photography session, along with your scheduled hair and/or make-up appointments. As this time is reserved specifically for you and coordinated across multiple providers, the session fee is non-refundable.
If you need to contact me within 48 hours of your appointment, please do so by text message or email.
Hair and make-up services are provided by independent professionals and are subject to their own cancellation and rescheduling policies. While I will always do my best to coordinate a new appointment for you, availability cannot be guaranteed.
If you arrive late to your hair and/or make-up appointment, this may impact the time available for your photoshoot. Due to other client bookings, your stylist or make-up artist may not have sufficient time to complete your appointment in full.
In some cases, it may not be possible to complete both your styling and your photoshoot within the allocated time, and rescheduling may be required.
If you do not attend your appointment, or arrive too late for your session to go ahead, the session will be considered a missed appointment and a new session fee will be required to book another date.
When will I see my photographs?
At the end of your session we will schedule your Viewing & Ordering Appointment, which usually takes place around 2-3 weeks later.
During this appointment you will view your beautifully edited gallery of approximately 20 images, choose your favourite portraits and select your package or any wall art you would like to order.
Payment for orders is made at the viewing appointment.
I always recommend that all decision makers attend the viewing appointment, as choosing your portraits can sometimes be a difficult (but enjoyable!) decision.
To allow you to relax and take your time viewing the images, I generally suggest that children (other than babies) do not attend the viewing appointment if possible.
When will I get my order?
Once your order has been placed:
• Digital images will usually be delivered within approximately one week via a download link
• Print orders are typically ready for collection from the studio within around three weeks
• Wall art and albums are usually ready within six to eight weeks
I’ll be in touch to let you know as soon as everything is ready for collection from the studio!
Where is your studio?
The studio is located at:
